Presentation Of Amber Flag

Congratulations to the members of the Amber Flag committee and to their mentors Ms Byrnes and Ms Walsh who travelled on the Garda bus to Ballincollig in Cork on Thursday 17th May to pick up their Amber Flag award for completing the Amber programme.  Image-1-2The AMBER FLAG initiative aims to encourage Schools/Colleges/Clubs/Societies/Organisations to promote and actively bring about a culture change in the promotion of positive mental health within the educational system and other organisations. It is to enhance the already good work that is going on where mental health is concerned by offering an award. The students on the committee have put in huge efforts to create this culture and to promote an awareness around well-being and positive mental health through a series of activities that they organised in the school. These included:
• The promotion of Mental Health Day among members of the school community on Tuesday 10th October
• The Positive Pumpkin competition.
• The Amber themed non-uniform Day and Fashion Show which raised €550 for Pieta House (which provides a free, therapeutic approach to people who are at risk).
• Participation in the Darkness into Light event in the Phoenix Park on 12th May which further raised awareness around positive mental health among the school community. Image-1.png-2
Well done to the members of the committee on a great year’s work! Darkness int Light 12 MayPumpkin10
