Location

St Mary’s is located  in Glasnevin off the Old Finglas Road, across the road from the pyramidal Met Office and around the corner from the National Botanic Gardens.

The school is owned and managed by the Sisters of the Holy Faith, assisted since 1986 by a Board of Management, which includes Staff and parental representation.

The school is in the grounds of the Holy Faith Convent which borders the Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin Cemetery and St. Brigid’s Primary School. The environs provide a natural educational resource for the Staff and students. The school grounds include a hockey pitch and pavilion. There are basketball / tennis courts to the front of the main building. A car park provides space for the Staff’s cars. Access for Staff is through the car park. Students enter the school through the students’ gate. The school buildings include St. Mary’s red brick building itself, and outside this main building are the Gym, an Art Room and a Science Room. The Glass Passage connects St. Mary’s Hall to the main St. Mary’s building.

Directions

From M50:

Leave the M50 at the Finglas exit.  Just off the exit ramp you will come to a roundabout.  Take the right off the roundabout and continue straight along the North Road.  The North Road will become the Finglas Road.  Keep going along the Finglas Road, when you have passed Tesco, Clearwater on your right, followed by a set of appartments on your left, you should prepare to get into the left turning lane.  (if you come to Glasnevin cemetry, you have missed the left turn).  At the set of traffic lights at the junction of the Finglas Road and the Old Finglas Road, take a left turn up the hill.  Continue straight along this road, St. Brigid’s Primary School will be to your right and St. Mary’s will follow shortly after this.

From town:

Leaving town via Dorset Street, continue on this road over the canal and past Croke park (visible to your right).  Dorset Street now becomes Drumcondra Road.  Just before the Tolka River, take a left turn onto Botanic Avenue (at the set of traffic lights at Fagan’s pub).  Continue along Botanic Road (you will know you are on the right road if there are speed bumps), and go straight through the crossroads.  At the T-junction, take a right up the hill, the road veers to the left and you will soon see the Met Office to your right.  The school entrance is on the left almost immediately past the Met Office.

Public Transport:

The bus route No. 83 will bring you directly to St. Mary’s.  You should get off at Bus stop 181 or 176
