Fifth Years Hike For Health!

On Friday 26th May at 7.30am a group of energetic 5th years set off to Wicklow for St Mary’s first ever Hike for Health. This trip is one of the initiatives which the Amber Flag for Mental Health committee have been involved in. This was an opportunity, at a stressful time of year – the start of the Summer exams, for senior students to spend time in nature engaging with the environment and engaging with opportunities for reflection, physical activity and mindfulness. We were blessed with wonderful weather which added to the enjoyment of the day. The students completed a 12km hike starting in Crome Woods in Wicklow. The day provided opportunities for yoga, scream therapy at the top of Djouce Peak, hugs for happiness as well as lots of physical activity. The day was a great success enjoyed thoroughly by the students and staff.
