St Mary’s have three soccer teams entered in the FAI Leinster schools leagues –  Senior, Junior, and First year.
The senior team have qualified for the Leinster quarter-finals by finishing top of their qualifying group. They recorded 3 wins and a draw, with the highlight being a 6-0 victory over St Mary’s Holy Faith, Killester. The quarter final opposition is unconfirmed because other groups still have fixtures to play.
The Junior team (1st, 2nd and 3rd year students) played their final match in their qualifying group on Friday 3rd of February. They have recorded convincing wins in all 3 games, scoring an amazing total of 30 goals! The highlight was a 13-0 victory over New Cross College. This team has also qualified for the knockout stages as group winners, we await other results to see who the opposition is in the quarter final.
The first year league began in the last week of January, and our girls made it a winning start by beating Mount Temple Comprehensive School 12-4. The girls played with great confidence and we hope that they can emulate the senior and junior squads by progressing to the latter stages of the competition.
While these results are fantastic, the most satisfying thing for their coaches Ms Morgan and Mr McGlynn, has been the level of enthusiasm and the positive attitude that the students have displayed while representing the school. We wish them the very best of luck in all of their forthcoming fixtures.
